This book is NOT a Martha Stewart-type cookbook; thank God. What it is, is a great guide for those of us who want to whip up some really good food for get togethers and small parties. Probably the best aspect of the book for us was the step-by-step timeline of when to buy the food drinks and when (and when not) to prepare them. There is a one-page timeline of steps, ranging from weeks before the party, to the night before, to an hour before the party for each of the main sections/themes. The authors also include several tips, shortcuts and shopping hints for those of us who are catering-challenged. Many of the dishes have a Brazilian flavor to them, so if that's your taste, definitely check this one out.
